New York was the last stop (John Selway & Dave Turov), so now leave it to Central Europe to pick up the slack for Interpull’s second release, Falko Brocksieper’s »Galahad EP« featuring remixes by Quenum and Jonas Kopp.
Throughout his years weaving between techno‘s core scenes in Cologne, Detroit, and Berlin, Falko Brocksieper has held his place within the electronic underground as an eccentric yet grounded figure. His consistency as a producer has only been topped by his ability to inject real emotion and vitality into his tracks. Fittingly, his »Galahad EP« breaks through the barriers and expectations of genre with its unique take on dance music that‘s matched with its impeccable production quality.
The title track »Galahad« sets the EP rolling and wastes no time to state its intentions. Starting off literally on a high note, the title track presents upbeat harmonies underlaid with deep, immersive melodies of filtered effects and dubbed-out arrangements. Indisputably grooving, »Galahad« creates the momentum for both Djs and the crowd to get going.
Quenum‘s remix follows up on Brocksieper‘s original with his subtle reworking of »Galahad«. Retaining the attitude of the original track, Quenum‘s mix adds a touch of subdued cool that spreads out the energy of the original track and lets it unfold over time. Ending with some well-placed organ, Quenum‘s mix injects a distinctively Chicago sense of soul into the track.
Jonas Kopp‘s mix roars forward as the third track on the EP, delivering his hard-hitting take of »Galahad«. Building up over the first half, Kopp‘s mix maximizes both the sonic potential of the track as well as its ability to suit the most demanding of sound systems.
The EP finishes up with »Rabbit Injection« and »Azatoth«, two emotive and grooving tracks that gives the EP a distinct cooler, more contemplative side as well. »Rabbit Injection« mixes in reverb and quirky little effects that showcase Brocksieper’s skill at creating environments as well as solid tracks. »Azatoth« forms a fitting end to the EP with its chilled-out metallic tones and reflective vocals sung in a guest appearance by Benjamin Fehr.

A new mixtape. Quite techno at some point.

Sierra Sam and Marcus Vector have been well known for their releases on Supplement Facts, Time Has Changed and Contexterrior. On Dirt Crew they offer us more deepness but still with a techy edge to it. They teamed up some close friends to do the remixes, a great variety of different styles here from Falko Brocksieper and Varoslav.
